Fears and desires

I am watching the news streaming onto my screen, into my room and into my mind from Copenhagen. I cannot help being affected - stirred and moved by the countless campaigns, publicity spots, debates, demonstrations, and the common desire expressed by millions, to achieve something together - at last!
It is high time to get rid of our selfishness and egocentric attitudes on every level. Globalisation is real in every single term - no individual citizen, no individual country or economy can escape a global ecological, economic and political crisis created by the thoughtless exploitation of our resources and by the inability of governments to understand one another, to accept the reasoning of one another. No escape, unless ... unless a global attitude change towards the Earth is achieved.
Yes, it is high time for the wealthy world to remember that they had a long period in the past to develop as they wished and could - and at a price that the others had to pay. It is time to give something back of what has been taken.

This past summer the Hungarian students of the ClimaSOS project visited their friends in Cyprus. They could gain first hand experience on a beautiful an livable country and rich culture. As I see these happy smiles, I can only hope for a future for them when they can meet again without having to fear from losing nature's beauties but being able to show their children what they inherited from the decision makers of today.
